The Modeling of Fuel Auto-Ignition Delay and Its Verification Using Diesel Engines Fueled with Oils with Standard or Increased Cetane Numbers

This article contains the results of mathematical modeling self-ignition delay (τc sum) a single droplet for various fuels, and measurement verification (τc) this in diesel engines. The result τc sum (as function diameter ambient temperature fuel droplet) revealed two physical chemical stages that had different values weighting factor (WFi) relation to total self-ignition. It was also found WFi individual phases differed fuels (conventional alternative), value sum. measured determined tests using engines (older—up EURO II newer generation—from IV). percentage difference Δτc obtained from with cetane number compared same during engine measurements.
